This rust-red field modern carpet derives its design from the early 17th century silk and metal thread Persian "Polonaise" rugs. A curvilinear Maltese "Cross" quatrefoil medallion is balanced by three partials at the ends and sides, and is attached to the corners by four swerving bands. Palmettes fill in the defined reserves. Red/straw reversing triangles enclosing rosettes form the border. Well-woven. As new condition.
