Joshogan (Joshagan), in central Persia specializes in only a few designs, especially one derived from Safavid originals, consisting of diamond or lozenge-shaped floret arrays, often around a central contrasting, design en suite small medallion. Usually red field, dark blue medallion, as here. Forked and bent leaf corners. Characteristic dark blue border of palmettes and stiff, tip-bent leaves. Cotton foundation, asymmetric knots. Good condition.
