Dorokhsh is a town in the Qainat area of Khorassan province near Mashad in NE Persia and is known for its finely woven rugs, primarily scatters, with a pungent, natural rust-orange. Here the large broadly scalloped four pendant medallion is set on a navy indigo ground, with red extended corners and a narrow abashed navy to medium blue border of slanted leaves with palmettes. Sawtooth palmettes, botehs and petal palmettes decorate the field. Soft wool. Rare in this good condition.
