This tapestry almost surely originates in Brussels, the centre of Flemish tapestry weaving from the early 16th century until the 19th. Mounted and running hunters, some with muskets, and their hunting hounds crash through a dense forest and across a near ground stream. Realistically detailed and full-leafed trees form a diminishing repoussoir to the left. Picture-frame border of rolled acanthus leaves together with roses and other garden flowers, all developing from a thin rod on all four sides.
