"Laver" is a trade corruption of the name of the town of Ravar, near Kerman, with a repute for making some of the best antique Kerman-style carpets in the pre-WWI period. This well-woven room size shows a characteristic ecru field centered on a complex navy radiating palmette octofoil medallion. Multi-color petal palmettes fill the field. Extended corners with volute "claws" and escutcheon elements, all in navy. Four narrow border with the ecru main stripe having palmettes and several types of rosette. SE Persian city carpet, good condition.
