This somewhat enigmatic Kellegi (long carpet) shows a dark blue hexagonal subfield set on a brown-black field. Nine flowers sprout outwards at each end of the sub-field and a red and ecru compound medallion hosts a dark blue stepped focal motif with bounding divided squares. Coral border with light teal-blue details. All wool, medium weave. Definitely a village rug, but from where and by whom? Interesting definitely. Boldly drawn like a large Kazak. Good condition.
