This higher “Serapi” grade NW Persian village carpet is all naturally dyed and materially handspun. The well-abrashed pale to cerulean blue field carries a red, notched and lobed sub-field, which, in turn, is centred by a navy and ecru octilobe radiating palmette medallion. At the centre is a red and pale blue oval rosette. Palmettes decorate the field and sub-field. Although slightly end-reduced, the ecru strip-style main border displays an open and clearly early rosette and bent leaf pattern. Moderate weave. Generally good condition.
