This is a rare SE Persian nomadic carpet in a large size, probably originally woven for a wealthy local patron. The nicely abrashed warm red madder field show an extravagantly developed navy-black medallion with eight spade form pendants, vertically flanked by characteristic flowering vases, and with double peacock end point escutcheons. Nacy and ecru tertiary Afshar medallions with floral infills. Navy border with reversing turtles. Wool foundation, medium tribal weave. Good condition. Magnificent, authentic tribal creation.
