One of the favorite west Persian Malayer patterns is the allover Herati of open diamonds, rosettes, palmettes and "fish" leaves, which works best on a dark blue ground. Here it is framed effectively by a madder red main border of reversing turtle palmettes which seem a little unsteady, but charmingly so, accented in sand, light straw and medium blue. Cotton foundation, symmetric knots. Good condition except for slight end reduction.
