In good condition, this finely knotted scatter rug shows a pearly palette of sandy beige, light blue, light brown and pale green. The style is essentially Anatolian, but refined and elaborated in an urban manner. At the center of the closely stepped beige open subfield is a two layer tall flower-accented lozenge open medallion in the NW Turkish Bergama style. Ornamented diamonds are scattered regularly about. The surrounding field has a honeycomb pattern. There are nine narrow patterned borders plus a plain outer strip. The largest border, with a pale blue ground, shows a one-way turtle palmette design, while others present floating botehs, oblique stripes, dots and detached, progressive flowers. The palette is fairly light and there are no saturated reds or blues. Yellow, a somewhat brownish red, pale blue slightly abrashed at one end and other softened tones figure in the overall palette. Cotton foundation with asymmetric (Persian) knots, clipped short. The fringe at one ends is totally intact, while at the other it has been worn slightly.
