This relatively recent NW Persian village carpet features an abrashed rust-red field symmetrically displaying a central cogwheel rosette, tilted, upright and lazy petal palmettes, other rosettes, and flaming winged pendants. The unusual design is rather reminiscent of Mahal or Sultanabad carpets. Ivory strip-style main border with well-spaced reversing turtles. Moderate weave. A very attractive village NW Persian carpet showing current design trends while still not departing from characteristic local "rugginess". Good condition.
