This very attractive west Persian village scatter is particularly unusual for several reasons: the goldenrod field is extremely recherch Ž for this weaving type. The red main border displays a forked arabesque meander with rational corner resolutions. Also unusual. More classic is the large cartouche-shaped navy medallion, with a petal ellipse centre, and red escutcheon pendants. Leathery texture and short pile. A step above the usual Farahan Sarouks. C. 1900. Good condition, but slight end reduction.
