This large, Kurdish urban scatter from the Bidjar-origin town of Garrus shows an offset, partial rendering of the eponymous design of red and cream forked, geometric arabesques, ragged palmettes and small upright flowers on a navy indigo ground. Inner cream border with escutcheons and thick forked arabesques; red outer with rosettes and palmettes. Bidjar carpets were woven in Garrus before 1914, in the town of Bidjar after 1920. Extremely dense, compact and robust weave. Rare to find the "Garrus" pattern in a scatter or small carpet. Good condition, medium weave.
