Antique Bakshayesh Rug 8'7'' x 11'1''. This C. 1880 Heriz carpet shows an amusingly downset rust subfield, on an abrashed light to medium blue field, enlarging to Herati and animal corners. Giant Herati nodule fills the centre of the stepped salmon medallion. Six rectangular light blue and cream pendants or floating ornaments. Cream Zanbaki border of polychrome rosettes and tilted irises, on a S-pattern broken meander. Natural dyes including indigo and madder. A good condition example from the "Caucasian" Heriz period. Moderate weave.
