In the style manner of the early 20th century “Sultan’s Head” Kum Kapi rugs, this silk Hereke shows a red field patterned with sinuous cloud bands, along with palmettes, under yellow spandrels decorated with birds and vases. Sapphire blue leaf and palmette border surrounds and enlivens the whole. Very finely woven, short silk pile. Good condition. Cartouche at the field top has a doubled by reflexion inscription in metal thread.
