Two columns each of four hooked and nested diamonds in ecru and red define the dark blue field of this SW Persian tribal Khamseh rug. The defined reserves are closely filled with more layered, hooked diamonds in yellow, red and dark blue. The ecru main border features an attenuated version of an arabesquerie patterned after the “wedgie shoe” Caucasian stripe. The inner border shows oblique, broken color bands. Moderate weave on wool. Good condition. The hooked diamond motif is common to all Fars and Luri work.
