A very finely knotted, short pile scatter from a famous central Persian weaving town, with a classically-inspired pattern of cartouches, full and half quadrilobes on a Dark ground. A border decoration has been repeated across the rug three times and halved twice more. Flowering shrubs fill the reserves and animals ramp about in the cartouches and half quadrilobes. The medium blue border is more conventional with inward-pointing petal palmettes amidst forked arabesques. Velvety pile on an all-cotton foundation. Fine condition.
