Miriam A. Portilla Espino stands as a beacon of creativity and innovation in the Mexican art landscape. With a unique foundation in legal studies, Miriam has transcended conventional boundaries to become a self-taught artist whose work spans muralism, canvas painting, sculpture, and an array of mixed techniques. Her artistic voyage has been marked by significant collaborations with prestigious art organizations throughout Mexico, enhancing international events such as the Qatar 2022 football world cup with her distinctive artistic expressions.

Her collaborations have extended into the hospitality and culinary sectors, working alongside esteemed companies like Casa Xolo, Grupo Vanko, Grupo Sirilo, Puerto Raíz, and jewelry designer Jonathan Sánchez, thereby embedding her artistry into various facets of Mexican culture.

Miriam's creative journey has seen her leaving indelible marks across a myriad of Mexican cities including Los Cabos Baja California, San Miguel de Allende, Querétaro, Mérida, Hermosillo, and Mexico City. Drawing profound inspiration from the natural world and the rich tapestry of Mexican heritage, her work in mixed media using organic materials showcases a deep respect and appreciation for her roots, while pushing the boundaries of traditional art forms.


Her international recognition was further solidified with exhibitions such as the "Nahuales" series at The Bust Gallery in New York City in April 2023, and a solo exhibition of her "Curanderias" series at the Pen Project Gallery in Miami, Florida, in July 2023. These exhibitions have not only highlighted her exceptional talent but also her ability to weave cultural narratives into her art, making her work resonate on a global scale.


In her unending quest for knowledge and mastery over her craft, Miriam is currently pursuing further academic excellence. She is engaged in a diploma program in “Art Understanding and History, Museum Studies and Curation" at Harvard University in the USA. Simultaneously, she is enriching her understanding of art history through a diploma at the San Miguel de Allende campus in the Fine Arts Faculty of the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). This dual path of education underscores her commitment to blending academic insight with artistic expression, setting a new standard for interdisciplinary exploration within the art world.
