Danhôo
Born in Saigon, Vietnam, in 1966, Danhôo is a prominent French artist of Chinese heritage whose unique blend of calligraphy, color, and emotion has captivated art enthusiasts worldwide. His journey as an artist is a testament to the transformative power of passion and creativity.
Danhôo's artistic odyssey began in 1983 when he left his homeland and moved to Paris, France. Initially, he worked for a renowned artist's supply house, where he delivered materials to established artists. During this period, he seized the opportunity to learn from these artists and even lent his creative assistance. This experience marked the inception of his own artistic career.
As time passed, Danhôo found himself in the company of some of Paris's leading artists of the era, including Olivier Debré, Zao Wou-Ki, Paul Rebeyrolles, Vladimir Veličkovič, and Ernest Pignon-Ernest. He also worked closely with artists like Erró, Robert Combas, and Lee Ufan before ultimately dedicating himself to his own artistic path.

Danhôo's art is a harmonious fusion of his Vietnamese roots and Chinese heritage, prominently featuring the ancient art of calligraphy. Inspired by American abstract expressionist Jackson Pollock and the concept of Qi (vital energy) in Chinese philosophy, Danhôo masterfully employs the dripping technique, infused with European influences.
His art is a vibrant canvas where substance, signs, and symbols intertwine to create expansive fields of color and boundless energy. The calligraphic elements in his work emphasize Chinese culture, making each piece a cultural bridge between the East and the West.
Danhôo's paintings bear witness to his inner journey, symbolizing dreams, passions, and superstitions associated with his immigrant upbringing. Unlike the controlled academic style, his dynamic approach speaks to the "inner necessity" in art, as coined by art critic Michel Tapié.
